About Homes By Orange
David Orange is a third generation qualified builder, completing his apprenticeship and advanced trade certificate under the watchful eye of his father at the family building company in Christchurch.
Then, after building his way around the US on a working holiday, David moved with his family to Nelson in 1995, setting up the region’s first independent group housing company.
Being a newbie to Nelson Tasman at the time, he worked hard to quickly build trust with construction contractors by delivering what he said he would deliver. The company is still delivering on its promises, which is why most clients build with Orange time and time again.
Even though he is proficient on the tools himself, he now enjoys spending his time with the Orange team and clients sharing his wealth of knowledge. “It sounds cliché but I love helping people.
This is why we do this, to help people build the home they want.”
David also enjoys spending time with his wife Kathryn and their three adult children. In particular, the family goes jet skiing, water and snow skiing, wakeboarding, fishing, and they are also into motor bikes.
He says that it is being a family-centered business that makes Orange, Orange. "My wife has been involved in the business since we started, and welcoming my daughter to the business has been a real highlight for me. I also regard the whole team as part of my family.
We look after each other and have a lot of fun at the same time, and we take these values to each project we undertake for our clients."
